Jerryd Bayless in Jeopardy to Miss Start of Sixers’ Season

A left wrist injury might keep Bayless sidelined.

The injuries just continue to pile on in the 76ers’ world, as presumed starting point guard Jerryd Bayless’ injured left wrist may keep him sidelined to start the season, per the Inquirer’s Keith Pompey.

Bayless has been absent from the preseason thus far and it looks as if he’ll miss the entirety of these exhibition games. An MRI on his wrist from Wednesday “wasn’t favorable,” per Pompey and the team is staying mum on the subject until more information is available.

The Sixers signed Bayless to a three-year deal worth $27 million in July. Bayless’ shooting prowess from the point guard spot (43.7 percent from deep on 4.4 attempts per game last season) was supposed to mesh well with the ball-handling skills of point forwards Ben Simmons and Dario Saric. While Simmons will sit out the next few months at the very least, the Sixers are counting on Bayless to play alongside Saric, who’s impressed in the team’s first two preseason games, as a catch-and-shoot threat upon his return.
