Video: Joel Embiid Scores First Career Points, Stuffs Jaylen Brown on Following Possession

Joel Embiid has arrived.

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers-Media Day Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Joel Embiid certainly showed a little ring rust in the first four minute stint of his NBA career, shooting 0-3 in the team’s preseason opener against the Boston Celtics. Brett Brown put him back in with just 1:17 left in the first quarter, and he used all 77 seconds to show us what may be to come.

First, a beautiful turnaround jumper against Tyler Zeller.

The shooting stroke looked great on the first three shots, but he finally got one to fall there.

On the following defensive possession, Embiid met high-flying rookie Jaylen Brown at the rim, and won that battle rather emphatically. Good to see him get off the ground a bit.

To polish things off, Embiid knocked down a 22-foot jump shot to beat the buzzer at the end of the quarter.

We’ll only get to see 12 minutes of Embiid on Tuesday night, but my goodness, do these clips have you longing for more.

Pray to the navicular bone gods.
