Instant Reaction: OKC rallies past Philly, 103-97

The Sixers may have lost the battle, but the ‘Process’ will win the war.

NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder at Philadelphia 76ers Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

This is the night many fans have been waiting for in a long time. To many, it was the culmination of “The Process”. Better yet, many were tuning in to watch the embodiment of those years of losses and rebuilding. That fact that Joel Embiid was garnering “MVP” chants in his first regular season game tells you how invested fans are in him.

Here are some quick notes:

  • Joel Embiid had himself a night. Granted, it wasn’t all roses. He looks like a guy that hasn’t played basketball for 2 years at times. Then other times, he’s shown flashes of brilliance. It’s going to be a fun year watching him develop. Final Stats: 20 points (6-16), 7 Boards, 2 Blks, 4 TOs
  • Sergio Rodriguez was sensational. Back when he was signed, just the thought that he’d be a competent PG was an upgrade compared to last year. Final Stats: 12 points (5-11), 4 Boards, 9 Assists
  • The Nik Stauskas that played tonight was someone the Sixers have been missing for the past year. The shot is still not falling but his ability to attack the basket is going to be key, moving forward. Final Stats: 13 points (5-6), 4 Boards, 1 Assist
  • Russell Westbrook is really really good. Let’s not get too bent out of shape about the loss considering how he made tough shot after tough shot. Final Stats: 32 points (11-21), 12 Boards, 9 Assists
  • A more detailed recap will be up soon. Until then, REACT!
