The last time the Sixers and Wizards got together, fans were
subjected treated to a double-overtime atrocity thriller at The Center. Tonight, the young guns will hope to get revenge down in D.C. as they continue preparing for opening night.
Good news for those of you breathlessly tracking Joel Embiid’s progress — the big fella’s minutes restriction has been bumped up to 15 minutes, which should provide him with extra time to spread his wings in the first half. With Ben Simmons, Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel all on the shelf, Embiid’s continued ascent toward a full role is especially welcome news.
Unfortunately, Sixers fans were robbed of watching Embiid put on his best performance to date in Memphis. Hopefully the encore lives up to his last game.
In other availability news, the team announced the following injury restrictions and inactives alongside previously discussed knocks for Noel and Jerryd Bayless:
Shootaround medical update:— Philadelphia 76ers (@Sixers) October 13, 2016
•Embiid increased to 15 minutes
•Henderson increased to 18 minutes
•Paul, Stauskas 12 minutes
Stauskas and Paul will have equal opportunities to shine, and given how the latter has played in comparison, this will only raise the stakes for their play tonight and moving forward. The final roster spot appears open for the time being, and we’ll have to wait and see if someone steps up and takes it.
Only 13 days until things start getting real. Warm up for the regular season with another healthy dose of JoJo and Dario.
