When Jerry Colangelo first joined the Sixers organization, one of his first orders of duty was to add some veteran presence to the roster. They seemingly accomplished that by bringing back power forward Elton Brand, but that hasn't stopped the team from seeking out some experienced former players.
General manager Sam Hinkie was seen having lunch today with 13-year NBA veteran Shane Battier at a local coffee spot in Philadelphia.

According to Derek Bodner, the Sixers were just simply seeking out his expertise, and have no plans to sign him to a contract.
Source says Shane Battier was a guest of the Sixers. Picking his brain to learn from his experience. No signing is imminent.

Battier will be a guest of the Sixers this evening as the team takes on the Atlanta Hawks, but he insists that his playing days are over.
