Ranking Stauskas, Thompson, Grant By Attraction To Other 29 Teams

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

I mentioned at the bottom of today's trade value post that I'd post my scattered thoughts on the three players listed in the headline. I figured it was worth a separate post but didn't want to front page it. Here they are. Also, we encourage you to read and participate in fan posts if you have thoughts on anything Sixers-related (or even not Sixers-related if you think the community would enjoy it).

See below. These are copy/pasted out of my rankings excel file.

Atlanta - Shooting-centered team, contending now.

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Brooklyn - Needs players with upside and team control. Billy King likes athletes.

Grant/Stauskas/Thompson

Chicago - Needs both creators and shooters. Size on wing not a weakness.

Stauskas/Thompson/Grant

Detroit - Stan Van Gundy loves shooters. Have Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Meeks as guards.

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Boston - Would gamble on upside but likes shooting and good contracts. All are fits.

Stauskas/Grant/Thompson

New York - Rebuilding. Stauskas probably a triangle fit

Stauskas/Grant/Thompson

Toronto - Contender, needs wing defense badly but could also use another shooter. Terrence Ross and Nik Stauskas are pretty similar.

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Cleveland - Contender; could use wing defense; also needs small salaries because of tax concerns.

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Indiana - Trying to get smaller and more athletic. All are weirdish fits. Grant would fit as a smallball four.

Grant/Stauskas/Thompson

Milwaukee - Length and defense but desperately need shooters; Grant fits their type

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Charlotte - Who even knows as this is a mess. Best true shooting guard for Hornets is PJ Hairston or Jeremy Lamb; Batum and MKG on wings kind of clogs spacing.

Stauskas/Thompson/Grant

Miami - Fashions itself as a contender; probably would take shooting

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Orlando - Usually goes for upside but has glut of wing talent.

Stauskas/Grant/Thompson

Dallas - In a weird hybrid rebuild after DJ fiasco. Assume they would go for friendlier contracts, but they could use a hybrid wing to replace Aminu.

Grant/Thompson/Stauskas

Houston - Contender skirting the salary cap. Would go for Stauskas if not for salary.

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Memphis - See Houston above. Not as close to the line as the Rockets and would want a finished product to help them win now.

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

New Orleans - Ideally combination of shooting around Davis and youth to grow along their pace. Stauskas is best combination.

Stauskas/Grant/Thompson

San Antonio - I could make an argument for any order. If they're going for it, go with best player.

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Denver - Not sure what they're doing; could use a guard as Randy Foye, Will Barton, Gary Harris are somewhat uninspiring.

Stauskas/Grant/Thompson

Minnesota - Man that rebuild worked out well, didn't it? Could use either a big backup wing or a guard.

Grant/Stauskas/Thompson

Oklahoma City - Contender which once had Hollis. Luxury tax team. Needs shooting.

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Portland - Rebuilding but has so many wing players similar to Grant

Stauskas/Grant/Thompson

Utah - Has a core to build around. None of these guys are point guards which is Utah's biggest need. Thompson is best fit.

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Golden State - Best shooting team has too many non-shooters in rotation to add another to rotation, even with Grant's 2014-15 still don't consider him that. Also a tax team.

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Clippers - Speculated around Thompson last trade deadline. Desperately needs wing size, shooting, and defense.

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

LA Lakers - Have zero real small forwards on the roster and gunner shooting guards.

Grant/Thompson/Stauskas

Phoenix - Also somewhere in between contention and rebuilding. Lost a surprising amount of shooting with recent moves.

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Sacramento - Thinks they're contending. Stauskas?

Thompson/Stauskas/Grant

Washington - Stauskas is duplicitous with Beal, need wing production after Pierce left

Thompson/Grant/Stauskas

Giving each 1 point for top, 2 for second, 3 for last, Thompson had 51 points, Stauskas 60, and Grant 63. So Thompson was ranked highest, Stauskas second-highest, and Grant third-highest.
