Jahlil Okafor takes a day off during a meaningless summer league playoff stretch to fly to Los Angeles to attend a mostly pointless award show as the 23rd-seeded 76ers and 10th-seeded Nets play today. I'm sure people have reacted well to this news. And yes, those are seeds as part of the NBA Summer League playoff bracket.

Okafor, who has already played five summer league games combined in Utah and Las Vegas, was previously excused by the team, as confirmed Sixers PR director Michael Preston:

Regardless, for those tuning in, including me at the arena, I'm trying to think of reasons to watch. Here goes:

1. Pierre Jackson, who rested during the last Sixers summer league game, signed an NBA contract yesterday and is always a fun watch. He's the perfect summer league player: a gunner who can put on a show and doesn't overly rely on his teammates to get him good looks.

2. Can Scottie Wilbekin keep up his strong play? With Jackson officially in the fold, he might not get the training camp invite it looks like he's battling hard for. He scored 26 points in yesterday's overtime loss.

3. Will JaKarr Sampson shake off his funk and finally put together a strong all-around game?

4. Will 1,000 people show up?

Okay those are the reasons. Come join us if you're near a television on NBA TV or the NBA summer league app at 4:30 PM EDT.
