The 2015 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors are as close to a perfect team as the NBA has had in the past decade, besting the entire NBA in wins, point differential, and the playoffs. As such, they have no immediate external needs and are not in immediate danger in losing any of the valuable cogs of their championship winning team. So what's a team like that with the 30th pick to do? In this case, it's add some depth, and they will do so by selecting point guard Terry Rozier 30th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Rozier's combination of defense, rebounding, and transition play will make him a nice depth piece for the Warriors to add. Rozier's biggest strength comes from his defense, where he averaged 2.0 steals per game thanks in part to his long wingspan. Though he is good in transition, Rozier's shooting tends to come and go in spurts and his assist stats are at the bottom for point guards in this draft.
Rozier would do well to find himself with Golden State where barring cataclysmic events during the off-season and pre-season, a lot will not be asked of him right away and he can slowly ease himself into the professional game. Given what Golden State was able to do this season, adding someone capable of being a nice bench piece with some upside becomes a sensible move for them as they begin their quest to repeat as champions.
