Draft Lottery Sets 2015 NBA Draft Order: Timberwolves Win, Sixers Pick Third Overall

SIXERS GOT LUCKY AGAIN!

The NBA Draft Lottery is all over but the crying, and the Sixers are crying tears of joy as they have ended up once again with the 3rd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft occurring June 25, 2015 at Barclays Center. One team jumped into the top three, and the Lakers are thanking their lucky stars for saving them from tanking ineptitude. But it was the Minnesota Timberwolves winning the lottery, taking home the #1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Neither the Lakers pick nor the Heat pick conveyed, leaving the Sixers with only one first round pick in 2015 at present time.

The Sixers will be able to select from one of Karl-Anthony Towns, Jahlil Okafor, and D'Angelo Russell. In a draft as deep as the 2015 NBA Draft, it is excellent news that the Sixers will have an opportunity to land one of these elite prospects. Presuming no further injuries, the Sixers will have an opportunity to have Joel Embiid and one of Towns/Okafor/Russell on their team for next season, which is a tantalizing prospect not only for next season, but for many seasons after.

The Heat pick and Lakers pick each had a respective longshot of conveying, and as many expected, neither of them did. The 2015 NBA Draft class is thought to be stronger than at least the upcoming 2016 NBA Draft class, but 2016 is going to be such a weird time in the league due to salary cap projections that these picks (along with the Thunder pick) not conveying may end up benefiting the Sixers in different ways.

There will be plenty of time to digest this all later, but for now just celebrate and scream randomly. Hug a stranger at the LB/RTRS Draft Lottery. If you're not there, get yourself there now and hug somebody. This is a good result. Trust the process.
