Sons of Liberty: Delaware 87ers Announce Opening Night Roster

Shortly before kicking off their third year in the NBA D-League, the Delaware 87ers announce their opening night roster for the 2015-16 season.

On Wednesday evening, the Delaware 87ers finalized their 12-man opening night roster as they head into the 2015-16 season.

Many of the players on the roster were profiled two weeks ago here on Liberty Ballers, but here's a brief look at the rest of the players:

Johnathan Jordan, 5-10, G, Texas A&M Corpus Christi: Jordan was a late addition to the 87ers' roster after he was recently acquired from the NBA D-League player pool. As a senior at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Jordan averaged 15.6 points, 5.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds during the 2014-15 season.

Jordan McRae, 6-5, G, Tennessee: McRae signed a one-year tender with the Philadelphia 76ers back in September, but wasn't able to stick with the big club out of training camp. Fortunately for the 87ers, McRae should be one of the more impressive scorers in the D-League this season: Last year, McRae averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists for the Sevens after returning from Australia.

Damian Saunders, 6-8, F, Duquesne: Saunders was a consistent contributor to the 87ers in their first season in Delaware (2013-14) when he averaged 11.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in 41 starts. Saunders spent much of last season playing for the Aomori Wats (10.6 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.5 SPG) in the top level Japanese basketball league.

James Siakam, 6-6, F, Vanderbilt: Last season, Siakam - a native of Cameroon - averaged 9.2 points and 5.9 rebounds during his senior year at Vanderbilt as he helped lead the team to its first winning campaign since 2012. In four years with the Commodores, the 6-7 power forward shot an impressive 59.0 percent from the floor.

Ladarius White, 6-6, F, Ole Miss: Ladarius "Snoop" White is a 6-6 swingman who shot nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc during his senior year at Ole Miss in 2014-15 (11.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG).

The 87ers will kick off the 2015-16 season with a road game against the Grand Rapids Drive on November 14. Three days later, Delaware will open its home season with a matchup against the Canton Charge on November 17.
