The Philadelphia 76ers are a wheeling, dealing machine. Can't stop. Won't Stop. Eh uh, eh uh.
According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Sixers have traded for Hasheem Thabeet and cash considerations from the Oklahoma City Thunder. I love it. Sure, Thabeet is one of the most underachieving players in NBA history but if anyone can squeeze out an iota of talent it might be....
Thabeet, I'm told, is likely to be waived immediately by Sixers after completion of trade

Oh. Never mind then.
Thabeet signed a two-year deal with an option for a third back in 2012, with an annual salary of $1.25 million. Spotrac says the deal becomes fully guaranteed for 2014-15 if not waived before September 1st, so Philadelphia will not be on the hook for any of this. The motivation for Oklahoma City in this deal is for the traded player exception, which is why they chose not to just cut him.
Essentially, the Sixers traded away nothing to receive cash considerations, as Thabeet won't take up any of their salary cap. Farewell, former Sixer Hasheem Thabeet. You'll have a place in our heart next to Anthony Bennett.
