Let's lead off with the news you need to know:
Per source, Sixers will give Nerlens Noel the day off today after his impressive performance yesterday. Smart move as Noel eases way back
— Bob Cooney (@BobCooney76) July 6, 2014
This was the plan all along - Noel will not play back-to-back games during the summer league schedule as he re-acclimates himself to competitive basketball. Combined with Pierre Jackson's ruptured Achilles tendon, the injuries and rest days have left the Sixers with a thinner roster than expected for the rest of the summer league.
The rest of your summer league Sixers will play late this afternoon against one of the likely summer league (and regular season) championship contenders: the Oklahoma City Thunder. That team features two first round picks from this season, Mitch McGary and Josh Huestis, along with Liberty Ballers favorites Steven Adams, Perry Jones III, and even heartthrob Jeremy Lamb.
Hollis Thompson shined in the first game by actually doing things on the court - despite shooting just 2-12, Thompson contributed through grabbing 14 rebounds and handing out 5 assists. He also looked a bit stronger, as had been reported before.
So today's not a must watch, because of no NERLENS, but we're here for you if you want to chat about Hollis, Jerami Grant not knowing how to play defense because of his college team, potential K.J. McDaniels highlights, and more.
