After a first round where the Sixers selected two players unlikely to play a game this season in the first round, the Sixers have finally added a piece that could contribute to the team this season at #32 in K.J. McDaniels, the 6-6, 196 pound junior small forward from Clemson.
McDaniels was projected to be a first round pick in many mocks, making him great value for the Sixers at #32. He is an excellent athlete, who, try to contain your shock, is not a good shooter. ESPN's Chad Ford had the following to say about McDaniels in March as his season was coming to an end:
McDaniels has been steadily rising on draft boards all year. He's a super-athletic wing who finishes above the rim, rebounds at a high rate and is a fantastic shot-blocker. He's a bit of a "tweener" and his jump shot is inconsistent, but his athletic abilities alone are causing some NBA scouts to claim he could end up in the lottery by draft night.
The Sixers next pick is at #39, so stay tuned, the hits just keep on coming.
