Michael Carter-Williams Makes NBA All-Rookie Team

Sixers rookie Michael Carter-Williams, who earlier this month was announced as the NBA's Rookie of the Year, has been named to the 2013-14 NBA All-Rookie Team.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Michael Carter-Williams has been named to the NBA's 2013-14 All-Rookie first team.

Carter-Williams, who won Rookie of the Year earlier this month, was the only unanimous First Team selection, receiving 125 First Team votes.  Victor Oladipo (124 First Team votes) was another near-unanimous selection, having been left off of one ballot, for some reason I can't fathom.  The rest of the first team was rounded out with Trey Burke from Utah, Mason Plumlee from Brooklyn, and Tim Hardaway Jr, from the Knicks.

The second team included Kelly Olynyk, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Gorgui Dieng, Cody Zeller, and Steven Adams.

MCW being named to the first team was as close to a certainty as there could possibly have been, averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game, and this was especially true after winning the Rookie of the Year award earlier this month.  There's really not a whole lot of news here, just confirmation.  Still, it's always nice to accumulate awards, especially after that season we all had to endure.
