The oldest player to play a single minute for the Sixers this season, Jarvis Varnado has impressed Sam Hinkie enough in his 10-day stint with the team that they've opted to sign him for the rest of the year. After the beats reported he was still at practice (indicating another 10-day), Woj dropped the bomb.
76ers signed Jarvis Varnado for rest of season, league sources tell Yahoo. Varnado has team option w/ guaranteed money for next season too.

Jarvis Varnado has the same agent as Brandon Davies. I'm told he likely signed a similarly structured deal, like what Sixers offered Dedmon.

That certainly sounds team-friendly.
Well, I don't know what this means for James Nunnally, Kevin Murphy, Darius Johnson-Odom, or Scott Suggs, but I'm certainly not going to say they're out of the running. Tons of cuttable players still employed by the Sixers if Hinkie and Brett Brown like any of those guys enough.
I'd like to think this has something to do with Nerlens Noel returning, since Varnado as a rim protector is a similar type of player, but I can't think of why 18 more games of Varnado means Noel does in fact come back on 4-4-14. Brett Brown did say today that Nerlens playing 5-on-5 in practice could be a thing soon.
It's a sleepy kind of season, guys. I need Brandon Davies back.
