Oh, Really? Sixers Trying to Trade Evan Turner, Getting Nowhere

Evan Turner thinks the Sixers are trying to trade him. He's not wrong. Only reason he's still here is most teams don't want to give up anything for him. The Bobcats are reported to have interest in him in theory. Same goes for the Suns, Clippers, and Hawks, though that may be for Spencer Hawes and/or Thaddeus Young. I don't know. I just don't know. 16 days left until the Trade Deadline.

Most likely, all of the leaking things is coming from the agents of Turner and others. And now, here are some things Turner said, delightfully.

"I never expected to get a contract extension, especially when we switched GMs, you know? I always said, Mr. Hinkie is going to do what he wants to do, and he has his own vision and everything like that. So when you trade an All-Star like Jrue, I mean, what occurs next isn’t going to surprise me. I was just trying my best to keep focused, keep helping the team win and getting better."

And in response to the BUST label his first few years in the league:

"That’s what the No. 2 tag comes with. Sometimes there are people who write stuff and say stuff that don’t even watch the game, you know what I am saying? I enjoyed my first two years.

"My first year, we made it to the playoffs, I was able to play some big minutes, get some experience. Second year, the same thing occurred but, they’re screaming at me that I am not a scorer or this, that and the other. Those two years, the most anyone scored was 14 points—I averaged 10."

"I was young. When it came down to it, I got blamed for dang near everything. I wasn’t this, I wasn’t that. You become insecure about it."

"I don’t pay attention to it anymore. I just keep trying to get better, keep trying to play. I know I can play basketball. At the end of the day, you have to see who takes it, who is running with that, who is writing what they’re writing. Some people never played basketball a day in their life, and now they think they taught me how to play. I can’t fight people with pens or anything like that. I just try to keep getting better."

The trade deadline will never arrive. This is purgatory. Have some kettle corn and get comfy.
