Two years in a row, the Sixers' most important big man has entered the season with knee issues. While the team's general direction dictates that the general mood surrounding Nerlens Noel's recovery from a torn ACL is patient, the 19-year-old Kentucky product might be ready to go.
ESPN's Jeff Goodman is reporting that Noel has been cleared to resume on-court basketball activities. In the report, there is speculation that Noel could be ready for game action in 4-6 weeks barring any setbacks. Here's the most important quote:
"He tested really well and his knee looks great," one source said. "Dr. Andrews suggested he be cleared to do on-court drills, but the team still has to clear him."
Whether the Sixers would actually play Noel this season is another question entirely, especially considering Brett Brown's comments before the season started. On the surface though, Noel's recovery seems to be going well. It will be interesting to see if the revamped jumper is unveiled at some point this season.
