Sixers Draftee Vasilije Micic to Stay Overseas for 2014-15 Season

missin u

This is from a few days ago, but buried in the Keith Pompey article on Ronald Roberts, Jr., we have news that 2014 NBA Draft 52nd overall pick Vasilije Micic will remain overseas, playing for the impeccably named Mega Vizura of the Serbian League "at least one more season." Liberty Ballers is very pro-Maestro, has been ever since Rich first wrote about him, and I had a baseless inkling that Vasa would come over this year. Not so.

The backup situation to Michael Carter-Williams remains uncertain. The small, tiny, barely visible silver lining to the Pierre Jackson injury was that hey-- maybe we'd see Micic come over right away, but that was never really a fully conceived thought. Casper Ware is doing things in Orlando Summer League and looks like he has a solid shot at making the team once more, but with Tony Wroten already pencilled in as de facto backup point guard, I would like the Sixers to find somebody who can control tempo and feed Nerlens Noel in the post when MCW is sitting or playing off the ball. Don't want to assume Jeremy Lin just yet. Is Brevin Knight busy?

Anyway, hopefully we'll see Vasilije next year, at which point I will hopefully still be able to spell his name without checking. We're gonna have some reports from overseas this season, so this will assuredly not be the last time you hear about The Maestro.
