Although Spencer Dinwiddie went right before the Sixers to the Detroit Pistons, Sam Hinkie still came away with a very high upside player in Jerami Grant with the 39th pick in the NBA Draft. He's Harvey Grant's son, he was Michael Carter-Williams' teammate at Syracuse, and his brother Jerian Grant is playing for Dave's Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Jerami slipped a bit after being projected in the high teens. He's super athletic, super versatile on both ends, and really can't shoot. Does that seem familiar? Oh it does? Cool. He'll be the perfect backup to Thaddeus Young, who still hasn't been traded.
You don't find guys with Grant's physical tools in the 2nd round. That's excellent value at #39.
