Royce White Under Investigation For Domestic Violence

According to a report from TMZ, Sixers forward Royce White is under investigation for domestic assault. The incident, which happened back in June while White was a member of the Houston Rockets, was originally classified as an accident, but his now ex-girlfriend has changed her tune in the past week.

Royce White, who came to the 76ers along with Furkan Aldemir from the Houston Rockets earlier this summer, is allegedly involved in a domestic violence investigation, reports TMZ.

The alleged incident, between White and his then-girlfriend Tania Mehra, happened in late June.  According to the report, Mehra originally called 911 and reported the incident as an accident to protect White's NBA career.  The report says that Mehra has changed her tune over the past week, now telling police that White assaulted her after she confronted White about advances he was making toward her friend.

You can read details about the alleged attack from the TMZ report, if you so wish.

It's important to keep in mind that right now no charges have been filed, and this is all an allegation.  Still, this drama is something I'm sure the Sixers were hoping to avoid.  As we had previously reported, NBA sources have told us that the Sixers were never all that interested in White, and that the prize of the trade was Furkan Aldemir.

White, 22, was the 16th overall selection by the Houston Rockets in the 2012 NBA draft.  He has yet to play in the NBA, fighting a much publicized battle with anxiety and having been at odds with the Houston Rockets over setting a protocol over mental health issues.
