Who said August was a dead time for the offseason? Last year the Sixers came out of nowhere with Andrew Bynum, just a few weeks ago the Brett Brown hiring was announced, and now Woj has dropped another bomb that the Sixers have traded for Tony Wroten! August forever.
For just the price of a future second round pick (Hinkie got like 73 of those in his back pocket I AIN'T EVEN MAD), Wroten is a perfect acquisition. He's 20 years old. He can't shoot. He's crazy athletic. He's a lefty. And he wasn't given a chance in Memphis, becoming even more expendable once Nick Calathes was signed. This is a Pat Gillick move. This is a Sam Hinkie move.
We'll tell you more about former University of Washington standout Tony Wroten (friends with Spencer Hawes?!?!?) soon, but for now take it away, Zach Lowe:
Wroten for a 2nd-rounder is exactly kind of thing PHI should do. Low-risk asset grab who won't help them win this season.

And as Jake pointed out to me, he is not Chris Duhon.
MURDER SHE WROTEN.
UPDATED: It's Top 50 protected. They acquired him for absolutely nothing.
