76ers coaching staff update: McKie, Curry out

Brett Brown will not retain any of the previous coaching staff, reports Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Brett Brown will not retain the services of Aaron McKie, Michael Curry, Jeff Capel or any of the 76ers previous assistant coaches, reports Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"I'm doing that for obvious reasons," Brown said to Pompey. "I feel like it's important that I come in with my own staff and start fresh and try to rebuild."

"I think it is always difficult," Brown said also said to the Inquirer. "[They are] good people who really worked hard up until the end."

At his press conference on Wednesday, both general manager Sam Hinkie and Brown were non-committal on the future of the previous assistants, but said that they had hoped to have the staff in place around the first of September.

Michael Curry, former Pistons head coach and credited with a lot of the 76ers defensive success over the past few years, was allegedly one of the finalists for the head coaching position, and had coached the 76ers summer league team.

No word yet on who Brown is looking to bring in to fill out the remainder of his staff.
