In addition to acquiring Royce White from the Rockets, the Sixers also acquired an international prospect, Furkan Aldemir, a 6'9" power forward out of Turkey as part of the deal.
Aldemir was drafted in the 2nd round by the Los Angeles Clippers in last year's draft. He was later traded to the Houston Rockets as part of the Lamar Oden deal. As part of the Rockets organization, he spent the season abroad with Galatasaray in the Turkish Basketball League.
Last season at Galatasaray, Aldemir averaged 17 minutes a game over 40 games, shot 68.5% while averaging 5.1 points per game with 6.8 rebounds per game, according to eurobasketball.
Aldemir has a good frame and projects as a solid rebounder and defender at the next level. He could possibly one day play a role in the NBA as a bench player, although those days certainly are not imminent. Aldemir will most likely stay in Europe next year and it may very well be that he never plays for the Sixers, but Aldemir is a legitimate international prospect and his status will be worth keeping an eye on during the season.
Aldemir, Furk yeah! I'll show myself out.
