Charles Barkley Thinks and Says Things about the Sixers Lack of Coach

Because Charles Barkley remains a relevant and important source of information and opinions.

While I'm farting around Summer League waiting for the Kent Bazemore Show to start, I figure I should probably write something about something. And since everybody or nobody is up in arms about the Sixers not having a head coach didn't you know?, I'll dig in on that.

Charles Barkley is not pleased.

"I think that's one of the silliest things that I've seen in sports in a long time," Barkley said on Comcast SportsNet's Friday edition of "Philly Sports Talk." "I'm in Philly during the summer as you know, and I'm watching and reading every day -- to not have a coach under contract by now, I think that's a joke. I don't know what they're waiting on. You're playing summer-league games, people need to know who's in charge. They got players who are playing in the summer league, they got assistant coaches coaching the team. You just can't bring somebody in, and him have instant credibility -- he has to build rapport with the players."

Okay.

I don't really feel like rebutting (butting) because, again, I don't care about the Sixers waiting this long to have a coach. They are going to be bad this year and the only player whose emotional psyche I really care about is Michael Carter-Williams, with Nerlens Noel hurt and Arsalan Kazemi an impenetrable robot hell-bent on rebounds and steals and meat and potatoes. Everyone else is immaterial. MCW's career trajectory won't be threatened by the Sixers waiting.

There could be some truth to the idea that the Sixers have already "hired" Brett Brown, as was reported during the draft, and are just interviewing other candidates to scoop information on other organizations and listen to other ideas. Seems like a dick move, but maybe this happens all the time? Could be that they're just giving Michael Curry the year to drown in a bloody pool of losses, then looking for their long-term option now.

I don't know anything. No one knows anything. I just know not to listen to anything Charles says ever. We'll find out soon or we won't. I'm just itching to get the losing started, regardless of which dude in a suit is yelling things on the sideline. Intern Coach forever.
