2013 NBA Draft: Sixers Trade for Nerlens Noel, Lose Jrue Holiday

In the first move of the HInkie era, the Sixers have traded Jrue Holiday for Nerlens Noel.

USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 NBA draft got off to an insane start with Anthony Bennett going number one. Nerlens Noel slipped past the top 5 and was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Twitter that Sam Hinkie and the Sixers have moved everybody's favorite player Jrue Holiday to the Pelicans for the long projected number one pick and Kentucky center Noel.

This trade comes as a shock to many of us as they lose Jrue Holiday and allegedly a GAIN a 2014 first round draft pick. We'll have more for you guys as the night goes along but here's the place to start.

Sam Hinkie has certainly made his presence known with his first move as the new Sixers general manager. I can assume there's more to come.

What are your thoughts?

UPDATE: The New Orleans pick the Sixers receive is top 5 protected. Trade is Jrue + #42 for Noel and 2014 1st rounder.
