NBA Draft 2013: Official Liberty Ballers Draft Thread

New, comments

Since the Philadelphia 76ers aren't bothering to host their own NBA Draft party, consider this the Internet-only version of said event. Bring your own refreshments. And bring some extra for the rest of the class as well.

Unlike David Stern, we'll stick around for the entire draft.

We made it. The 2013 NBA Draft if finally here.

For basketball fans, the draft is like the Super Bowl, prom night, class picture day and Christmas all rolled into one. Tonight is especially meaningful for Sixers' fans as it marks the official start of the Sam Hinkie Era in Philadelphia.

Time to get excited, kids.

Unfortunately, thanks to the radio silence that has emanated from the Wells Fargo Center these past few weeks, we have no idea what to expect from Hinkie and Co. But that shouldn't stop us from playing Virtual GM tonight as the picks are announced by outgoing commissioner David Stern (missing you already, Dave).

So many questions... Will the Sixers go big or small with the first pick? Will they pull a power play and maneuver their way into a top-5 spot? Will they buy a pick at the end of the first round only to use it on a player who they'll stash on the Delaware Sevens next year? Will Adam Aron be fired before the night is over?

We'll have all of the answers soon enough. There's not much else to say at this point: The draft previews are in the can, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter's getting hard, and the Jello's jiggling. This post will serve as the official "game thread" of the first round of tonight's draft - be on the lookout for another post at the start of the second round moderated by the great Justin F.

Feel free to use the comment section below to vent about the Sixers' inevitable selection of Cody Zeller, rip on the fashion choices of the latest batch of NBA draftees, or to poke fun at the Charlotte Bobcats for doing Sixering the draft with the No. 4 pick.

Turn up. Afterparty at Gilbert Arenas' house when we're done. Fireworks will not be present.
