The 76ers are set to sign Justin Holiday, reports Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.
Justin, of course, is the older brother of 76ers all-star point guard Jrue Holiday. Justin Holiday isa 6'6" forward who has been playing with the Idaho Stampede this season, where he has averaged 17 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game while shooting 40.8% from the three point line.
Justin capped off a 4 year college career at Washington by averaging 10.5 points and 5.2 rebounds during his senior season with the Huskies. He went undrafted in the 2011 draft and saw time with the 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers summer league teams. He also played sparingly for the Portland Trailblazers in the preseason.
The 76ers roster currently stands at 15, so they will have to make room for the elder Holiday to join the team. The most likely candidates are Jeremy Pargo (Did Not Play - Coaches decision in 10 of last 13 games) and Charles Jenkins (DNP-CD in 4 of last 5), as they are both on small contracts that expire at the end of the season. Nick Young has been a DNP-CD in 8 of the 10 games he has been available since returning from a sprained ankle and also expires at the end of the season, but he is due a more substantial amount for the rest of the season.
Also up in the air is whether the contract is a 10 day contract or whether it is guaranteed for the rest of the season.
Update: The Idaho Stampede have confirmed the transaction. Thanks to Tyler Tynes for the heads up.
