Jrue Holiday Dunks on LeBron James, is Generally Just Wonderful

With some help from Larry Sanders and Nick Young.

The Sixers game vs. the Miami Heat was a lot closer than I would've liked. But the Sixers hung in there largely because of the play of Jrue Holiday and Thaddeus Young (and to a lesser degree, Evan Turner). We've gotten used to Jrue doing .giffable plays that nobody sees because it's the Sixers game and you can't expect people to subject themselves to this kind of basketball anti-porn. But that changed when Jrue dunked on LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD.

First of all: OH MY GOD.

To call this "a dunk" is disrespectful to the rest of the play. There are four perfectly executed steps to this manna from heaven and I'd like to OH MY GOD I JUST KEEP WATCHING IT.

1. The Inside-out dribble on Mario Chalmers. Thaddeus Young is there to set the screen, but Jrue knows how bad Sixers bigs have been at setting picks this year, so he fakes around it. I love the inside-out dribble TO HIS LEFT. Always surprises defenders.

2. Then he encounters Chris Bosh, who is hedging off Thad. He cuts off the side way too much, and Jrue easily crosses over left-to-right and gets by him. Bosh waves at him but Jrue's already long gone.

3. Dwyane Wade helps off Evan Turner, who creeps up to foul line extended to open up a passing lane. Wade's defense is closer to a jab step, never really committing enough to veer Jrue off his path. Jrue crosses a half-hearted Wade up from left-to-right again.

4. AND HE'S AT THE BASKET! WHO IS THAT? IS THAT LEBRON JAMES COMING TO CONTEST? LEBRON GOES UP AND OH MY GOD HE ALREADY DUNKED IT! JRUE DUNKS IT RIGHT INTO HIS MOUTH. LEBRON MISSES THE BLOCK, LOOKS BACK TO SEE HOW JRUE GOT BY HIM, AND FALLS DOWN. JRUE JRUE JRUE JRUE JRUE.

That sequence rocked. Jrue followed this game-tying dunk by dribbling the ball off his foot and, with the help of Spencer Hawes missing a layup from point-blank range, preserving this game for Lucy, our Giant Tanking Octopus diety.

What do you think about that, Larry Sanders?

Perfect.

Also, it's worth watching this Nick Young three at the end of the shot clock because Nick Young shoots about 93% on shots like these.
