NBA Trade Deadline: Will the Sixers Make a Trade?

No day but today. Or tomorrow.

Kevin C. Cox

Around the trade deadline, every team says the likelihood is that they won't make a trade. The last thing you as a coach or GM would want is to say "HERE COMES A BIG ONE!" and come away with Kareem Rush and a jar of mayonnaise. Better to surprise them by saying you'll stand pat while the rumors swirl than to wet the bed and piss everyone off.

So it is with absolutely no surprise and a deadpanned delivery that I give you this link to Doug Collins saying the Sixers probably won't make a trade. Oh, are they also keeping Andre Iguodala as well? Yeah. Nothing is certain, but they are most definitely working those phones to find something to trade.

The question is, will it happen? Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes are the two names that keep popping up in potential trades. We already know they rejected an Atlanta Hawks offer of Josh Smith for them. J.J. Redick was linked to the Sixers this morning. And Andrea Bargnani was mused last week. Those are all we have so far.

Obviously the Sixers are completely handcuffed by the entire Andrew Bynum fiasco, so it is probably prudent to not do anything huge. But we are stupid fans who want something to happen so GIMME GIMME GIMME.

Does something small happen? Buyers or sellers? A box of pencils for a Juicy Juice? We'll be here bringing you all the worthless trade rumors but here's the league-wide rumors page and here's the storystream for all Sixers rumors so far. I just can't wait for ANY TRADE AT ALL to happen. I have the bluest of balls over here.
