BEST OF LIBERTY BALLERS:

76ers Sunday Morning Shootaround: The Girl Scout Edition
In this edition of the Sunday Morning Shootaround, Thaddeus Young can't get a re-up on his Girl Scout cookies, Jrue Holiday makes friends at the mall, and Andrew Bynum's knees didn't disintegrate.

Because You Can Never Have Enough Nikola Vucevic - (A Jordan Sams special!)
Many words have been written about the freethrophobic rebounding machine that is Nikola Vucevic, ever since his historic game against the Miami Heat. You may remember the unathletic specimen's days in Philadelphia, from his time in Doug Collins Doghouse, or by the less than rave reviews he received on Draft Night, but now he may be remembered as the best player in the Dwight Howard trade, and the single reason Sixers and Magic fans fight like the girls from The Bachelor.

Why do Win Shares Hate the Sixers?
Do you need stats to tell you how bad the Sixers have been the last 12 years? Well here you go!

Thad and Jrue In ESPN's "25 Under 25"
In their second annual "25 best players under 25" feature, Kevin Pelton (also of Basketball Prospectus) and David Thorpe ranked Jrue Holiday and Thaddeus Young 12th and 17th, respectively (Insider Only for ESPN, sorry). Jrue jumped up a whopping 12 spots from last season and Thad improved by five, which is, what's it called.... progress! It's also a major win for the "Sixers only have two players that are really any good" camp.

Sixers vs. Bucks Recap: The 12 Labors of Jruecules - (AKA The Best LB Game Recap of All Time)
Jruecules was beginning to wonder if he'd ever taste freedom again. Twelve years of servitude under the King Eusixthyus, he thought, and they could not be passing any more slowly. It was an unending slog through 20-foot jumpers and missed shots unrebounded, open lanes to the basket unused and inside shots uncontested.

Jrue Holiday: The Once And Future All-Star
Even if Philadelphia 76ers' point guard Jrue Holiday doesn't receive an All-Star bid this season, he's made it clear that his name should be in the mix for the NBA's mid-season showcase for many years to come.

SIXERS LINKS:

Waiting for Frodot: A Sixers fan comes to terms with Andrew Bynum’s absence - The Basketball Jones
Philadelphia 76ers fans don’t get a lot of cred for being a depressed fan base, and that’s probably fair. The Sixers have won two NBA championships, one in 1983 — not exactly recent memory, but more recent than all but eight other NBA franchises — and as recently as 2001, they’ve gone to the Finals and had a player named MVP, two achievements that Wizards, Warriors, Hawks and (for now) Knicks and Clippers fans have not gotten anywhere near enjoying in the time since. No one responds to your claims of being a Sixers fan with a sarcastic (or sincere!) "Oh, I’m sorry." More likely, they’ll respond with, "Oh," as they struggle for something else to say.

The Evster’s Guide On: How To Make Your Own Jerseys - The 700 Level
So you wanna be a baller. You’ve got a dope haircut, some fresh sneaks and a $400-a-week cocaine habit, but do you have the one key attribute that certifies your P.I.M.P. status? No, I’m not talking about cocaine, you have the cocaine, you have plenty of cocaine – and I’m not talking about "power" or "respect" or "swag" or any of that dumb stuff that doesn’t really mean anything – I’m talking about a jersey, an authentic NBA jersey. Didn’t you read the title of this post? It’s not like it should be a surprise, this article is gonna be about jerseys, all about jerseys. It’s right up top in huge bold print. Geez.

Andrew Bynum: 'Everything's picking up' - phillyBurbs.com
After participating in his first shootaround of the season earlier in the day, Andrew Bynum told the media he’s continuing to improve and still hopes to make his 76ers debut around the all-star break in mid-February.

Line of Wilt Chamberlain apparel aims to cash in on his outsize legend - Philly.com
The photograph of Wilt Chamberlain clutching a plain piece of paper on which "100" had been hurriedly scrawled, minutes after he'd reached that unimaginable point total in an NBA game, is at the heart of a 44-year-old Roslyn man's ambition.

No relief in sight as Sixers limp toward break - CSN Philly
Another slow start, another late comeback and yet another loss. For the Sixers this season, this has been the recipe for mediocrity. Lather, rinse, repeat...
