Philadelphia 76ers guard Jrue Holiday did not practice today due to soreness of the longitudinal arch in his left foot, according to John Mitchell. Mitchell also reported that Holiday will receive an MRI, although X-rays on his foot came back negative.
The 76ers can ill-afford to have Holiday miss significant playing time, as the team is already playing without center Andrew Bynum. Added to all that, backup point guard Royal Ivey will not travel with the team on Friday for their game against the Indiana Pacers, leaving Holiday and Maalik Wayns as the two available point guards on the roster.
Holiday has played extremely well for Philadelphia this season, leading the team with 18.4 points, 8.9 assists and 38.5 minutes per game. The 76ers understand his importance to the team, and recently signed the point guard to a 4-year, $41 million contract.
Philadelphia is currently 12-10 on the season, good for 4th place in a difficult Atlantic division.
