In preparation for tonight's season opening game in Philadelphia between the 76ers and the Denver Nuggets, Andre Iguodala has posted the following message to the city of Philadelphia on his website, mindofai9.com.
Philly-
I would like to take the time to thank you and all your devoted sports fans for the passion, loyalty and spirit that you gave to me during my eight seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Thanks as well to the 76ers organization, who gave me the opportunity to fulfill my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA and provided me with a great front office of dedicated people to work with. I would also like to thank all the coaches, trainers and teammates that I was blessed to compete along side and build lasting relationships with here.Tonight I begin a new chapter in my career but I will always share my accomplishments with the city and the organization and I thank you both for all that you have done for me.
Sincerely,
Andre Iguodala
Iguodala was traded to the Denver Nuggets as part of the four team deal that landed the Philadelphia 76ers Andrew Bynum.
Here at Liberty Ballers, we have always been huge supporters of Iguodala's (here, here, and here to list a few articles showing our appreciation). Needless to say, we will not be among the expected vocal majority who will be booing him at the Wells Fargo Center later tonight. The guy was a heck of a basketball player. He just wasn't the basketball player many wanted him to be.
