At Sheridan Hoops: Five Reasons to Feel Positive About the 76ers

We checked in with Chris Sheridan on the reasons we should be optimistic heading into the season.

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Got a pretty cool email from real live basketball reporter Chris Sheridan this morning asking me to write something for his relatively new site on the Sixers. Chris used to be at ESPN but has been building up a pretty interesting mix of things over at his Sheridon Hoops dot com. Check it out.

My answers were the answers you'd expect I'd say if you've read the blog with any regularity, but if you're just too damn excited about the upcoming season, this should serve as another jolt to the basketball bloodstream. I'm really really excited, you guys. Here's a taste:

Not a day goes by where I don’t have to actively try to remember the Sixers have Bynum. It’s just such a foreign concept that I won’t actually believe it until he steps on the court against Denver at the end of the month. I’ll be wearing a diaper at that point, just in case.

There’s no doubt in my mind that he will sign a max contract in Philadelphia. The prospect of more money and more guaranteed years than free agency can offer him, combined with proximity to his hometown and – most importantly – the FRANCHISE PLAYER tag that will be stamped on his forehead for years will be far too much for him to pass up. We’re going to see six years of Andrew Bynum in a Sixers jersey. Nuts.

Read the rest over there. To sum up: Bynum, Bynum, Bynum, Bynum.
