Mortal Enemies: Sactown Royalty |
This is another team that the Sixers should be able to beat, and while the Sixers are on the tail end of a back to back, Sacramento is traveling. And this is also another team the Sixers will miss undermanned, as the Kings will be out starting shooting guard Marcus Thornton. Thornton had averaged 26.3 points per game in the Kings 3 wins.
Jimmer Fredette will make the first start of his career in his place. The Sixers should be able to take advantage of extensive minutes from Jimmer by making him pay defensively. The Kings are already at the bottom of the league defensively.
DeMarcus Cousins will also be starting for the Kings, making his third straight start in place of Chuck Hayes who is out with a dislocated left shoulder. Cousins is averaging 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds on 53.8% shooting since returning as a starter, but has committed 9 turnovers to 0 assists during that time.
The key to beating the Kings is keeping them on the offensive glass, where they are the best in the league, led by DeMarcus Cousins, whose 20.0% offensive rebounding rate is the best in the league. Keeping the Kings off the free throw line will be important as well. The Sixers will go up another strong (at least physically) front court presence in DeMarcus Cousins, the guy they passed over in the 2010 draft to select Evan Turner.
Prediction: Sixers 107, Kings 95
