Brand helped organize a team workout scheduled for next week in Los Angeles and most of the key Sixers have told him they will attend. Andre Iguodala, Evan Turner, Lou Williams and others will fly in, share a hotel, play and work out together and do what they can to get ready for the season.
This feels like the NFL all over again. Obviously the Sixers can't fully replicate an NBA training camp without team facilities and the coaching of Doug Collins and co., but I feel good about team workouts organized by Elton Brand. He's a 10+ year veteran, he's a hard worker and a great leader. The Sixers core has been together for a while now so I expect everyone to hold each other relatively accountable. As long as the turnout includes Jrue Holiday, Louis Williams, Jodie Meeks, Evan Turner, Andre Iguodala and Thaddeus Young (even though he's a restricted free agent) I'll be happy.
According to their Twitters Marreese Speights has been working out with Jared Dudley at Impact, and Spencer Hawes with his Seattle buds.
(Elton also discusses the lockout and potentially playing overseas in the rest of the article from CSNPhilly, if you're interested.)
