Per Marc Stein:
Phoenix Suns assistant coach Dan Majerle is the latest candidate to be targeted in the Philadelphia 76ers' coaching search, according to NBA coaching sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that the Sixers, after receiving permission from the Suns to speak with Majerle, are sending a delegation to meet him in Phoenix on Monday after Game 4 in the Suns-Spurs series.
"Thunder" Dan is 44, has no prior head coaching experience, and has been a Suns assistant for the past few years. He played 14 years in the NBA, retiring in 2002, and is known for his sweet nickname and three-point shot. Since he has no coaching experience I can only guess what kind of head coach he'll make. More importantly, the Sixers seem intent on finding the right guy this year, whether he's a coaching veteran, a young assistant, or tenured assistant. They're doing their due diligence and I appreciate that. I like candidates like Majerle (young assistants from good teams) more than re-treads like Doug Collins or Byron Scott -- who was also mentioned in Stein's article.
Veteran coaches that could draw consideration along with Johnson and Collins include ESPN's Byron Scott and Sam Mitchell
Whatchu' think?
Update
Apparently the Sixers aren't interested in Scott.

Update #2
Sam Mitchell is next to interview. That makes Collins, Johnson, and Mitchell the only official 2010 Sixers interviewees, I believe. Monty Williams should soon follow.
