Nets vs 76ers coverage
Tonight is the Sixers' first meeting with the Nets this season, in a weird rivalry.
Last year the Sixers swept the Nets - winning three of the first four games by 10 combined points. The year before the Nets swept the Sixers, even though the Sixers were a playoff team.
But the weirdness continues off the court. Long-time Nets President (Rod Thorn) is now the President of the Sixers. And long-time (terrible) GM of the Sixers (Billy King) is now the GM of the Nets. The teams also picked second and third in last June's draft, linking the two players (Turner and Favors) for the rest of eternity.
Weird.
- The Sixers have the NBA's second worst record, half a game ahead of the Clips.
- This is our first look at Derrick Favors, the player some wanted the Sixers to draft instead of Turner. Don't cry too hard thinking of what could have been.
- This is one of only a few winnable games for the Sixers during the next 18. After this, 12 of the next 17 games are against teams at or above .500, including the Hornets twice, the Celtics twice, the Magic, the Bulls and the Lakers twice. Better win tonight, because it only gets tougher.
