Mavs Moneyball

Coming into the season 20-21 would've been looked at as a failure, but with the way the season started, that's not the case, especially with the way the Sixers have resurrected the season during the past 10 games. Yeah, today's loss hurt (In case you didn't know, the Sixers played a sub par 46 minutes of basketball today. They ended up battling back in the last 2 minutes to tie the game, only to have Dirk come down and drill the game-winner in Reggie Evans eye.), but much like the Tony Parker buzzer-beater, it's a loss that I'm not going to lose any sleep over.

Much like John said in the comments, winning streaks don't last forever. Teams are going to have off-days. And today wasn't the right day to have an off-day. I mean seriously. Jason Kidd? How often is he going to shoot 8-11 from the floor, hit 6 threes and grab 12 boards? Not often.

Another thing to take from the game is, I think we're all starting to realize that this team goes as Andre Iguodala goes. He has a good game, the team has a good game. He has a GREAT game, the team has a GREAT game. As for today, he had a sub-par game, but salvaged what was left of it in the final minutes. The team had a sub-par game, but salvaged what was left in the final two minutes only to feel Dirk's wrath at the buzzer. The most important thing is that Iggy manned up down the stretch. His proverbial balls have definitely dropped in the past couple weeks. I'm officially on the Iggy bandwagon for good.

The next Sixers game is Saturday against the Knicks. Yeah. Saturday. The four day layoff could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you look at it. If the Sixers would've gotten they're eighth straight win today, I would've said bad thing. When you're rolling like that you never want days off. But since they lost, and in somewhat painful fashion, I think they day off helps. Etlon's supposed to return Saturday too, so they'll have a full four days to integrate him back into the offense. It also gives me time to recuperate...

My advice to anyone taking a vacation in the near future: Please use judgement when thinking about eating/drinking yourself into a coma. I feel like I was run over by a train and then kicked in the balls with one of Shaq's 21 EEE sneakers. It figures I have to return to work and school tomorrow. I'm going to use the rest of my evening to do some homework, detox my body and watch the LeBron vs. Kobe duel. If you also plan on watching LeBron completely own Kobe Bryant, feel free to stop by and discuss King James' latest facial. I'll be here.

Oh yeah, and things will get back to normal around here this week. I'm officially back in Vegas and have made a promise to myself that I will not miss a single Sixers game during the second half of the season.
