The day is finally here! I can't believe it. Tonight is the night we will finally witness a Sixers' game that actually counts. We will see Elton. We will see the improved young guns. Unfortunately we won't see M16, but I think that'll change very soon. I just can't see him being in street clothes for too long.
Our opponent isn't too shabby either. They have an all-world stud in Chris Bosh and they will also be watching to see if their big man acquisition can resurrect his career next to CB. If Jermaine O'Neal plays anything like his former self, the Raptors will have a nice duo down low and make the Atlantic division even tougher. Good for them; we're ready.
Due to the World Series the game has been moved from 7 pm est to 6 pm. I don't know how this affects you, but I'll be in class until 6:45, and it takes a solid 35 minutes to drive home, so I'll have to use the good ol' DVR to tape the first half. It will probably take me a while to catch up, so I can't promise I'll be able to make the open thread, but that shouldn't stop you from tearing it up. After all, this is first official regular season thread here at Liberty Ballers.
I'm guessing the starting lineup will be: Andre Miller, Iggy, Thad, Elton and Sammy. As for the rest of the rotation, it will be interesting to see how Mr. Cheeks handles it. All I ask for is as little of Willie Green as possible. Please.
Here's a quick list of random things I'll be looking for.
-Why isn't Speights active?
-What will the rotation be?
-How's Sammy's knee?
-Are the youngens really as improved as I think they are?
-Are we any good? Doubt is slowly creeping into my mind, but hey that's the life of a sports fan.
-I really want a home W.
-Will anyone care about the game, since the Phillies play at the same time?
-Will my DVR somehow screw me and make me miss the game?
-Will League Pass stick me with the Raptors announcer?
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Prediction: 95-93 Sixers
