Holiday is "last in the pecking order" as Jordan said post-practice. That's Jordan's style, to have the rookie earn his way onto the floor. So right now he's behind Lou, Willie, and Royal. Jordan called him "solid." After practice, Jrue had some ice wrapped around his knees. When asked about it, he said, "I'm getting old, I'm 19 now." -- Kate Fagan.
[Eddie] Jordan began installing his standards for discipline, efficiency, and execution. 'He's very strict on things,' guard Lou Williams said. 'One of the main things, he stopped the drill and we had to tuck our shirts in, and I think that's the first time we've had a coach that's been so set in his ways. And I think the type of team that we are, we're going to need that. We're going to need our coach to be our leader, and it's going to have to transfer to the guys on the court.'
"I think that's a good team, one that's ready to compete at a high level, ready to go deep in the playoffs," [Eddie Jordan] said. "I think that's an exciting team. You know how they say if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere? To me, Philadelphia is the equivalent of a 'Sports Broadway'; if you can make it in sports in Philly, you can make it anywhere.
"To me, it's the truest, toughest sports town in America, and I'm 54 years old and it's time to test my mettle."
"The Kings have been sincere and aggressive in their approach with me." But that’s not to say Jordan does not have interest in coaching the Sixers. "I am very interested, he said. "It fits like a glove in my opinion." -- Dei Lynam on Eddie Jordan.
He wants to be here. I want him here. Let's get this done already! Ed (aka the "SHOT" according to Lynam's article) needs to stop trying to be patient and pick his spots. All the opportunities (2nd round draft picks, Andre Miller trades, minimum contracts for Shaun Livingston or Blake Ahearn, utilizing the D-League) are passing him by, and all the other "good" GMs are taking advantage of them.
The Kings want Eddie, but it sounds like he wants to be here. Sign him up!
Hat tip to The Legend for his comment.
