Sixers Summer League Recap: Jrue, Jodie, and Cliff Jumping

A thousand sorries, it's been a few days. Hope all you nerf-herders had a lovely weekend of pillaging, but it's back to the grind, and that grind happens to be Summer League recaps. While us arsecaps still kick around the idea of a podcast, there's a slow summer ahead. So if you have something you'd like to talk about, fanpost it and if it's not total rubbish, we'll front page that mother.  Onward and upward, cohorts.

Here's a link to my Summer League preview for RU and here's the one you presumably already read, if you're into that sort of thing.

Summer League Game 5: Sixers lose to Jazz; Turner continues to struggle

Box Score

SLC Dunk

The Sixers were blown away by the Jazz in their final game of the Orlando Summer League. After starting 2-0 the Sixers finish the SL with a 2-3 record. More disappointing than their weak finish has been the play of second overall pick Evan Turner. His final line for the 5-game exhibition is as follows: 9.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 33% field goal percentage. If nothing else, hopefully Turner is humbled by this experience and approaches the rest of the off-season and rookie season accordingly. He has a lot to work on. A few game notes after the jump ...

Summer League Game 5 Thread: Sixers/Jazz

Early game today so no time for a long preview.  This is the last shot for guys like Cedric Simmons, Trent Plaisted, and Ndudi Ebi to audition for a training camp invite here. At this point I would say none of them get one, but without Marreese Speights, they'll have more time to show what they got. I'll throw something together this weekend on the Sixers week, but for now, just enjoy the box scores and brace yourself for Vegas because this baby is not televised.

One more time: I'll continue to defend Evan Turner until halfway through his rookie season, no matter how bad he looks. I suggest you try to keep breathing as well, seeing as he's a rookie on a team that's hoping to contend in 3-4 years.  If he elbows Gordon Hayward in the teeth, I think I'd be okay with it.

Oh and keep an eye out for an article I wrote for RU, it's scheduled to post at 11 -- let me know what you think, because I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it.

Thread it here, gents.

Summer League Game 4: No Holiday or Speights; Turner still MIA

Box Score

Rufus on Fire

The Sixers were without two of their best players tonight -- Jrue Holiday (hamstring) and Marreese Speights (no longer with team) -- so it's no surprise they lost to the Bobcats. What is surprising however; is another stinker from #2 draft pick Evan Turner. When word broke that neither Jrue or Mo were playing I thought Evan was a lock to breakout -- not the case. In fact, it might have been his worst performance; it's hard to tell since he's completely sucked the past three games.

A few game notes after the jump:

Bobcats/Sixers GameThread - What's a LeBron?

People with picture-in-picture FTW. This is the last summer league Sixers game that'll air on NBATV because they're switching to the Vegas guys tomorrow. Enjoy. I'm convinced my work was canceled today just so I could watch 12 straight hours of LeBron coverage. Well played, internship. Well played indeed.

Thread it here and I promise I won't delete LeBron comments. Unless of course they are poo.

Orlando Summer League Game 4 Preview: Sixers/Bobcats, With a Dash of LeBron

For the second time this week, the Sixers will wrap up action at the RDV Sportsplex with the late game. Only on this fine Thursday evening, a man our Latino friends call "El Rey" will be playing "Pick Your Contender" for all to see. If you haven't read this Adrian Wojnarowski Yahoo! column, stop what you are doing and read it, because it's fantastic. I'd be remiss failing to mention this, since this event, much to my chagrinnical chagrin, could be the widest-reported sports story of our time. Whatever your feelings, take a second to look around at how insane all of this is -- then remember NBA bloggers are taking over the world and go about your day.

More relevance after the jump, I promise.

Summer League Game 3: Sixers suffer their first lost; Turner struggles

Box Score

Welcome to Loud City

The Sixers had their two-game winning streak snapped today, by the Oklahoma City Thunder. They were trailing for most of the game game, fought back numerous times -- even took the lead in the third -- but failed to remain undefeated. However; Summer League isn't about wins and losses; it's about working on schemes, philosophies, and individual weaknesses. Notes on Jrue, Jodie, The Villain, Speights and Simmons after the jump ...

Summer League Game Three Sixers/Thunder Thread: Metaphor About Jrue as Lightning

James Harden: So what now, Mr. Turner? Are we to be two immortals locked in an epic battle until Judgment Day and trumpets sound?

Evan Turner: Or you could surrender.

Game thread ya'll. Keep it fresh.
