Too Many Bigs?...and other issues

With the official signing of Richaun Holmes this week the Sixers now have a glut of big men on the roster. Okafor, Noel, J Thompson, Landry, Embiid, Aldemir, and Holmes make seven. Considering Embiid and Landry are likely to start the season taking up both of the inactive spots on the 15 man roster, the remaining five seems sort of reasonable, but it will leave us kind of thin at the guard/wing positions. Of the eight remaining spots, one also goes to Grant, who logged a lot of minutes at the four last season, but who will presumably have to play the vast majority of this season at the SF position. That leaves just seven left, and Stauskas, Covington, Wroten, Canaan, H Thompson, Sampson, and Jackson are already signed. That doesn't bode well for Tokoto or McRae, who are unsigned, nor for Wilbekin or McConnell, who are signed to partially guaranteed deals. Especially given the coach's stated goal of having more continuity this year. Do any of the last four really have a chance to unseat someone in camp? Hard to say...at least none of them are bigs. To me it looks like only another serious injury would open up a spot at this point. Or a spectacular camp performance. Or a late deal. Something tells me the latter is still in play, somehow. Optionality is still definitely in play.

Other issues: Magically we received a health update saying Holmes will be good to go for the start of camp. But what exactly is Wroten's status and timetable? Landry? And of course the Embiid surgery situation is still locked down under the cone of silence.

While we are at it, how is Stauskas' ankle? And how is Jackson progressing? 90%? 95%? 100%?
Inquiring minds want to know. Are all the beat reporters on vacation?

Are guys still working out at PCOM every day? Anyone else getting the last couple of camp invite spots? Or are we just so far into the dead zone that we won't hear anything for the entire month of August?

Final thoughts - couple of really great posts on this site lately...the quality has just been magnificent...Smitty, Jules and Jon all deserve their spots in the recommended section, and then some. Great stuff guys!
