Lack of Embiid news about Embiid speaks volumes

Putting aside the issue of should the Sixers/shouldn't the Sixers be more forthcoming about releasing updates on Embiid, the fact that it's been kept so quiet is amazing, and says a lot about Joel. Between the doctors, his agents, friends, teammates, etc. a lot of people know the real deal, and nobody is talking. No "sources close to Embiid" leaks, no vague "be careful who you trust" style tweets from his account. His demeanor court side during summer league didn't look like someone worried or upset with what was going on. If he was hiding it, he was doing a damn good job of it. And he's been quiet since. From this you can read one of two things: 1) Embiid and the Sixers staff are on the same page and confident on how to proceed, or 2) Embiid is at odds with the organization and is just being a total pro about it. Frankly, both scenarios are good.

The Sixers just feel like an extremely well run organization from the top down these days. The players obviously have developed a strong rapport with each other. I've never seen a picture of Noel and Embiid that didn't show them mid joke with one another (something you never saw with Noel and his media manufactured life long friend MCW. Just because you grew up with a guy doesn't mean you were tight). The whole team going to summer league was unheard of and it was obvious they were having a good time together. The players all refer to "Sam", not "Mr. Hinkie" as they would on most teams. Brett Brown is just the picture perfect coach for this bunch. And the ownership doesn't get enough credit. A lot of GMs would like to do what Hinkie is doing, they just don't have owners willing to take years of empty stadiums on the chin. From top to bottom, the team culture there seems to be in great shape. Better than the Eagles in fact, as this feels truly organizational rather than the cult of one man.

Personally, I'm frustrated by the lack of updates. I think after the faith we've showed in "the process", we deserve something. But that being said, the Sixers have earned benefit of the doubt that they're going to get this as right as they possibly can. And that's good enough for me. And that seems to be the case for most of the commenters here, which is amazing in and of itself. This is a Philadelphia sports website and the vast majority of commenters here speak intelligently and with respect for one another. What? Did you even think that was possible? Or if it was that you'd like it? It really does feel like we're standing on the verge of something here, and I'm hoping Joel can be a part of it soon, perhaps as soon as the end of this season.
