My take of the 76ers Part 1

Once upon a time there was a basketball team that was playing in a pretty big market called Philadelphia pa. For many many years this team seemed destined to be at the bottom rung of teams in the NBA. Once in a while lightening would strike and oh my goodness the sixers made the playoffs and with some luck they might even make the eastern championship finals. For many subjects(fans) they are content with this type of play. I for one am and have been quite upset with both the general manager and the owner at the time because all he cared about was putting butts in the seats and that was fine for them.

The sixers were put up for sale that was the day the way we viewed and will view the sixers changed. First and foremost we have an owner that has something that most owners in any sport does not have which is something called patience. Not only does this owner have patience towards winning and creating championships for possibly years to come. Now that we have a patient owner what next is a general manager with a long term vision just like the owner. Amazingly there is a gm like that his name is Sam Hinkie. He decided if the team is broke lets just start all over in a new direction. It began with the trade that just keeps on giving. I am talking about the trade that dealt with Jrue Holiday for last years 6th pick and this years pick which couldn't be 1 through 5. As we already know we were fortunate to obtain Nerlens Noel who was hurt and fell right into our lap. As we saw in summer league he is very raw but suitable to be a decent center or power forward at worst or at best an all star. Before I move on, in my opinion we got a hell of a deal but there is more. This years draft was a doozy of one where any team picking 1-12 could definitely get a starter. Well once again lightening strikes again and we end up with the 10th pick which is great. We then take a very capable pg but because we have a rookie of the year in MCW we found a taker for this pick. What we ended up with was a dream trade because we got Dario Saric, 2015 second rounder and our 2017 first rounder back. That is a hell of a haul for moving two spots down. Lets do a quick recap:

Pelicans got:

Jrue Holiday

Sixers got:

Noel

Saric

2015 second rounder

2017 first rounder

I wonder who truly made out on that trade. I know a lot of people are going to say well you needed the Magics help to accomplish this.

There will be more to come about the love I have for the way Sam Hinkie does business.
