Roster Roulette

The Sixers roster will end up with 15 players - this much is known.

Locks are MCW, Thad Young, Nerlens Noel, Tony Wroten and Joel Embiid (IR). That's 5. Hollis Thompson, KJ McDaniels, Jordan McRae, Henry Sims, That's 9, even though they're not all yet signed or guaranteed, they seem to all be pretty much locks, based on draft position and summer league performance. Now it gets interesting.

Jerami Grant is likely to get signed, and take up a roster spot, even if he ends up spending some time in the D-league.

Jason Richardson is under contract, but no one knows if he is ready to play again. The team has been silent to date.

Jarvis Varnado, signed, but with only a $75K guarantee.

Arnett Moultrie, under contract, but with all the cap space available, could be cut same as Eric Maynor already was.

Casper Ware, nice showing in Orlando, not so much in Vegas. Battling for a deep roster spot as the second backup PG.

Elliot Williams, not yet guaranteed for the season, hard to see the team carrying 4 PGs. He and Ware may be battling for a single spot.

Brandon Davies, brutal in Vegas, not yet guaranteed and probably fighting for his life with Moultrie for a spot. Personally, I wouldn't keep either one. At least Varnado brings some rim protection.

Who else gets invited to camp - Roberts, Sampson, Kilpatrick. That would get you all the way to 19. Again, given the cap situation, money is not really an object. So just considering these 19, which 4 fall by the wayside?

My thoughts - JRich in a buyout, Moultrie to clear the last of the deadwood from the prior administration, Davies based on his horrid summer league performance, which should have been much better considering his time in the league last year. The last one - one of the undrafted FAs, or Ware.
