Sam Hinkie loves assets and after Byron opted out he will have around 30 million dollars worth of assets this summer. I think it would be shrewd for him to do salary dumps with either/both Chicago and Houston if the other teams want to. From Chicago, we would take on the salary of Boozer and whoever else for Snell and the rights to Nurkic. From Houston, we would take Lin and get the rights to Capela. Not only would we be getting great assets for the future, we would have just as much cap space for next year as Boozer and Lin are expiring contracts, and would be bringing in veterans who would not help the team all that much but have been on winning teams and could help the younger players. These veterans will also be nice if we flip Thad and/or Richardson as we will still have veterans to help mentor the younger players and who have been on younger teams. Also, if we really wanted to go full tank again we could eat basically all of Boozer and Lin's contracts and, being that they are somewhat productive players, trade them at the deadline for you guessed it--more assets. It will be one more year of misery but we will have a pretty fun product to watch in a year.
