Houston just traded Omer Asik to the Pelicans for a 2015 protected 1st round pick. According to Chris Broussard, Houston is doing whatever they can to clear the space needed to sign Melo & Lebron. Knowing this is their motive, it might be difficult to unload Jeremy Lin onto another team.
This is two front offices who are very familiar, and have already set a precedent of being willing to help each other (the Royce White trade). Both sides are cognizant of the fact that Parsons will be a casualty (no room to retain him with Harden, Melo, Bron & Howard) and Morey has to be aware of the fact that if this is truly his goal, he might as well get something in return for him. I feel like a trade of Lin & Parsons for Pick 39 & 52 would be beneficial for both sides. Houston gets to shed Lin's deal, receive something in return for Parsons, and get the cap benefits that come provided with 2nd round picks. We could even throw in a higher second rounder, or a future 2nd rounder.
The addition of Parsons would soften the blow immensely if we were to lose out on Parker/Wiggins. We still have picks 3 and 10, and 3 second rounders…plus MCW/Parsons/Thad/Noel. Parsons is a great shooter, a solid veteran leader and if anyone is familiar with him, it's Hinkie.
Pick 3- Dante Exum
*Trade MCW to LA for Nash & 7.
Pick 7- Vonleh/Randle/Gordon
Pick 10- Gary Harris
Picks 32, 47, 54
*buy-out Lin. maybe keep Nash around to show Exum a thing or two.
fyi..I like MCW a lot and would like to keep him and Exum together (exum at the 2). I just don't think Thad & 32 get it done for Nash and 7.
