If you haven't heard, today Woj reported that Randle will require foot surgery after the draft and is likely to miss summer league. A predraft injury, especially the unexpected kind, can really hurt a prospects stock and with only 2 weeks left its going to be difficult for all top 10 teams to get a first hand evaluation of Randle. We have seen players plummet due to injury and rightfully so. Perry Jones III comes to mind along with our buddy Nerlens.
With that being said and Randle previously being mocked in the 5-8 range, it has become a somewhat realistic scenario that he is there at 10. I won't say "likely" because I don't know the severity of his injury but very plausible.
SO assume the scenario that when the clock starts for the 10th selection, Randle is on the board. What do you do?
Only way I would think about whether to take him is if we took Parker with the 3rd pick but other than that I would do it in a heartbeat. Flawed or not, Randle is a player with star potential and coupling him with one of even higher star potential at 3 could really ignite the rebuilding process. And if not? We swung for the fences and missed on a high potential player that slipped.
If you told me last draft that we would be looking at potentially getting Wiggins AND Randle I would have attempted backflips at work until I got fired.
