Hey -- you -- stop reading DraftExpress.com. Put down the Chad Ford mock draft. Step away from the VJL110 player rankings. Honestly, they will be there when you get back.
Figured it would be good to take a break and pass this on. But be forewarned, it's somewhat addicting. If you haven't seen it on the interwebs yet, allow me to explain. You are given a $15 budget to pick your best starting 5 of all time players. Each player is assigned a value from $1 to $5, depending on the position.
PG: $5: Magic; $4: The Big O; $3: Isiah; $2: Stockton, $1: Walt Frazier
SG: $5 MJ; $4: Kobe; $3: Jerry West; $2: Clyde Drexler (really?); $1: D Wade
SF: $5 LBJ; $4: Bird; $3: The Dr; $2: Durant; $1: Pippen
PF: $5: Malone; $4: Barkley; $3: Duncan; $2: Nowitzki; $1: Garnett
C: $5: Kareem; $4: Russell; $3: Wilt; $2: Shaq; $1: Hakeem
Couple thoughts. First: Hakeem, Pippen and Duncan are vastly undervalued.
Third: picking a lineup was harder than I thought.
My initial impression was Magic, MJ, Pippen, Duncan, and Hakeem. They lack a floor spacer, but would still be impossible to stop.
If I could move LBJ to the 4: Stockton, Jordan, Pippen, LBJ, and Hakeem could be fun.
Stockton, Jordan, Pippen, Duncan and Shaq (with $2 to spare) would also be deadly.
Ultimately, though, I settled on Stockton, MJ, LBJ, Nowitzki, Hakeem. To me, LBJ is the perfect compliment to MJ. Nowitzki provides the spacing with a stretch 4. And can you imagine how deadly Stockton and Hakeem would be on the pick and roll?
So who do you have? And do you think anyone should have been included that was left off? I was surprised Gary Payton wasn't on this list.
