Here are the teams slated to pick in the top 10, but I am more interested in hearing team by team trade scenarios from others. Feel free to tear mine apart while dreaming up your own.
1. Cleveland: Thad and 3rd for 1st and Varejao
This is for those who so covet Wiggins they will get into a bidding war for him, and Cleveland might still get better offers (Love and 13). I could see the 76ers drafting Embiid 3rd minutes after Cleveland takes Wiggins 1st and then this trade happening.
2. Milwaukee: 3rd and 32nd for 2nd pick
Also a Wiggins flip-flop should Milwaukee know we covet him. We draft who they want at 3 and they get a valuable 2nd round pick.
4. Orlando: ?
I do not see a good trade match-up with the Magic. Unless we know they covet a player and pull something similar to the Milwaukee scenario, our picks are too similar this year and neither team has much to gain in dealing players as both are in full-on rebuild mode, so it is hard for me to imagine a deal.
5. Utah: 3rd pick and 32nd pick for 5th pick and 2015 1st round pick
In this scenario Wiggins and Exum are gone 1-2. I believe they are the players the 76ers covet. I think a team like Utah who wants a falling Parker or Embiid would make sense to deal with. We take the best available player at 5 or trade the 5th to another team looking to move up. If Embiid falls to 5 we could make out well in this scenario. I also think Marcus Smart / MCW backcourt could be pretty amazing with their defense, rebounding, and passing game, should Smart fall to 5.
6. Boston: 3rd and 32nd picks for 6th and 17th picks
Here Boston would have to covet a player that we don't at 3. We essentially move back 3 spots ( Smart, Saric or Vonleh?) to move up 15 spots (Stauskas, LaVine or Warren?)
7. Los Angeles: ?
Not a great trade partner for the 3rd pick. Perhaps 3rd pick for 7th and future 1st round pick? I am trying to figure out how that makes any sense.
Maybe a deal involving Thad and picks, but I am trying to keep this about the 3rd pick.
8. Sacramento: 3rd pick and Thad Young for Demarcus Cousins and 8th pick
In this scenario 76ers draft Embiid and trade he and Thad Young for Saric (who Sac take at 8) and Cousins.
Overall I want to see us grab one of Wiggins/Exum/Smart to pair with MCW in the backcourt. There are 3 NBA all-star level guards with superstar potential at the top of this draft, and I hope the Sixers get one. After that give me the best available player. I also do not mind trading back from 3 to get a guy we may covet anyway, and some additional assets.
I love Parker and I love Embiid, but not in the top 3. If he Parker falls to us at 3 I will be happy to draft him because he will be a nice NBA player, but my gut tells me this high in the draft a team wants a player who can score and hold his opponent on the defensive side. Embiid brings too much concern with his back history.
